Janakpurdham, 4 Chaitra. No name could be approved for the naming of Province No. 2 in the voting process held in the Provincial Assembly today. Janaki, Mithila, Bhojpura, Madhyamdhes and Madhes, all four proposals registered for the naming of Province 2 have been rejected.
The naming of Province No. 2 has become more confusing as no decision has been taken in the day-long voting in the Provincial Assembly today.
Janaki proposed by the CPN (Maoist), Mithila Bhojpura proposed by the Nepali Congress, Madhya Madhes proposed by Congress MP Rajeshwar Prasad Sah and the ruling party Samajwadi Party and proposed by the Rajapaksa in Madhesh Pradesh.
In State 2, which has a total of 107 MPs, 72 votes are required for a two-thirds majority, but no two-thirds majority was reached in favor of any of the proposals. The ruling party has lost 60 votes in favor of the proposal to name Province No. 2 as 'Madhesh Pradesh'. There were 46 votes in opposition and one against.
For Madhes, 55 members of the ruling Rajpa and Samajwadi Party and one member of the Nepal Samajwadi Party cast their votes in favor, while four votes were cast by Congress and CPN (Maoist) MPs. One vote was against and 46 against.
Earlier, the proposed name of the CPN (Maoist) was rejected after Janaki received only 37 votes. Mithila Bhojpura of the Nepali Congress was rejected after only 28 votes were cast.
Similarly, Nepali Congress MP Rajeshwar Prasad Yadav's rebellious proposal for naming Province 2 as Madhya-Madhesh was also rejected.
There were 42 votes in favor of naming Madhya-Madhesh. As all four proposals failed, we have to go through the process from the beginning again. For that, the parties have to re-register the proposal
